Farm and Home Foundation Scholarship Information
The Farm and Home Foundation encourages higher education for Lancaster
County youth by offering scholarships each year to students beginning
their freshman year of college and majoring in fields of agriculture,
family living, and consumer sciences.
Each scholarship is worth $1,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, and may be used for tuition, fees, or room and board at any
accredited educational institution which offers the required majors. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement,
leadership, and financial need.
Funds for these scholarship
are made possible from earned income from the Elmer L. Esbenshade irrevocable
Trust and budgeted income of the Farm and Home Foundation. The late
Mr. Esbenshade was one of the founders of the Farm and Home Foundation.
Since its inception, the Esbenshade Trust has funded 459 scholarships
totaling $534,800.
Scholarship applications are available after
February 1 each year from school guidance counselors or by contacting
Leon Ressler, the scholarship committee chairman, at 1383 Arcadia Road,
Lancaster PA 17601, or by calling 394-6851.
